Cliffe kept their place at the top of the table with a
last minute goal against a team who gave them probably their hardest match of
the season. Cliffe opened brightly and could have scored from either of two
superb crosses from David Lees. However, the game tightened up and, although
Cliffe had more of the play, Pollington looked comfortable at the back. Matthew
Leetham made a superb save, with Nathan Leach in support, while at the other end
Nick Pulleyne missed by inches when played in by Connor Potts. A stalemate
looked certain until Ryan Bastiman curled in a corner that wrong-footed the
entire Pollington team.
Pollington avenged their defeat with a 3-1 win in the friendly, Jack
Brocklebank curling in a superb effort for Cliffe whose man-of-the-match was
David Lees.
